Transforming Spaces

Transforming Spaces - project with Oxfordshire Hospital School, John Radcliffe Hospital, 2008-2009

I was commissioned to work with young people in the hospital. Using their vivid imaginations, they were encouraged to transform familiar hospital areas into personal, magical spaces using digital cameras and software. Together we created an interactive book aimed at patients between 3 and 10 years. The images here show some of their pages.

Transition

‘Response to Transition’ Exhibition, June 10-28 2008

Together with artists, Claire Christie Sadler and Wren Hughes, we created a project which involved community members and ourselves responding to the theme of ‘transition’. We ran art workshops during November and December 2007. June 10-28 we had an Exhibition at The North Wall Gallery, South Parade, Oxford, showing photography, installations, sculpture and drawings. This project was funded by the Arts Council, England and Oxford City Council Arts Council England, Fusion and Oxford City Council logosand was supported by FUSION an Oxford Community Arts Agency. My personal work has since been re-exhibited , West Oxfordshire Arts, Bampton Gallery July 2009.

Voices from the Falling Sky image

‘Voices from the Falling Sky’ Exhibition, Nov 2007-April 2008

I was commissioned by Oxfordshire Touring Theatre Company to respond visually to interviews made with people from rural Oxfordshire when questioned about the changing countryside. These same interviews formed the basis for a play written by their last Artistic Director Brendan Murray ‘The Falling Sky’, and performed during 2007. Exhibition at Oxfordshire Museum, Oxfordshire ended April 2008.
June 2009, larger versions of 14 of the images are permanently displayed at the new Churchill Cancer Hospital in Oxford.
