Artscape (2010-2011)

During 2010 much of my community work has been tied up with this organisation that provides a wide range of creative projects, for the benefit of people who use the services of the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust. I have worked for Artscape mainly with teenagers over the last 3 years. The images are a sample of their work during a range of projects that explored feelings, places, and spaces created and lost.

Seesaw photo

Seesaw (2009-2010)

An Oxfordshire Support group for grieving children and their families, helping them to move forward to face the future with hope.

Seesaw commissioned me to help young people to explore the use of photography, composition and lighting to express some of the feelings they have experienced during their bereavement.

And all Angels

St Michael’s and All Angels Church, Oxford (2009)

We were commissioned by the Church to encourage local school children and community to make one hundred ‘flying’ angels to celebrate the Church’s centenary. With artists Claire Christie Sadler (lead artist) and Wren Hughes we organised and delivered 16 workshops. Four other artists joined us. The installation of over 150 angels, was part of 2009 Oxford City Artweeks and remained in situ for much of 2009.

Creative Partnerships

Creative Partnerships with Longmeadow School, Milton Keynes (2008)

I was commissioned to explore, with staff and pupils from year 5, the value of using photography as a means of recording scientific experiments .
Photography helped their scientific learning, aided their ability to work in small groups, enhanced independent decision - making, and was a particularly successful way to involve learners with special needs.
The children created a permanent gallery of images in addition to making an exhibition of ‘descriptive images’ which showed their experiments and the sort of skills they acquired in editing and processing through new IT software.

Transforming Spaces

Transforming Spaces - project with Oxfordshire Hospital School, John Radcliffe Hospital (2008-2009)

I was commissioned to work with young people in the hospital. Using their vivid imaginations, they were encouraged to transform familiar hospital areas into personal, magical spaces using digital cameras and software. Together we created an interactive book aimed at patients between 3 and 10 years. The images here show some of their pages.
